Postdoctoral Associate in Computational Biology

Start Date:
Flexible Start Date

Date Created: August 11, 2026 - 4:59pm

As a Postdoctoral Associate in the Barisic Lab at Weill Cornell Medicine, you will work on projects focused on how chromatin remodeling complexes and 3D genome organization regulate cell differentiation and drive malignant transformation, with a focus on blood cancer. This role will lead computational and statistical analysis of large-scale functional genomics datasets (e.g., single-cell multi-omics, chromatin accessibility, transcriptional profiling, 3D genome assays) generated from genetically engineered mouse models and human samples, and will integrate these analyses with mechanistic experimental studies in close collaboration with wet-lab scientists.

You will be responsible for the following:

  • Conduct the research independently and/or collaboratively with colleagues to ensure all work is appropriately conducted following Lab, Department, and College policies and procedures.
  • Design, organize, and carry out computational analyses using established pipelines, and adapt and develop new methods and workflows as needed (including reproducible code, version control, and documented analysis).
  • Collect, curate, and analyze research data, including maintaining well-annotated computational notebooks and/or databases that track datasets, parameters, and analysis outputs.
  • Participate in abstract and manuscript preparation with the Principal Investigator; publish results in peer-reviewed journals and present findings at scientific conferences.
  • Assist the Principal Investigator in applying for fellowship, grant, and scholarship support, as requested (including preliminary analyses, figures, and methods text).
  • Assume general responsibility for scientific operations related to computational research in the laboratory, including training and supervising interns, students, and other laboratory personnel in best practices for data analysis and reproducibility, as necessary.
Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • PhD (or equivalent) in computational biology, bioinformatics, genomics, biostatistics, computer science, or a related quantitative field
  • Demonstrated experience analyzing large-scale genomic datasets; experience with single-cell and/or chromatin-focused data strongly preferred
  • Proficiency in at least one scientific programming language (e.g., Python or R)
  • Strong communication skills, ability to work independently, and a collaborative, team-oriented approach

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience with single-cell genomics and multi-omics data (e.g., scRNA-seq, scATAC-seq, Multiome, CITE-seq/DOGMA-seq), including QC, integration, and differential analysis.
  • Experience analyzing chromatin and bulk genomics datasets (e.g., ATAC-seq, CUT&Tag/CUT&RUN/ChIP-seq) and performing motif/TF activity analyses.
  • Familiarity with 3D genome / chromatin architecture data (e.g., Hi-C, Micro-C), including contact matrix analysis, compartment/TAD/loop calling, and visualization.
  • Strong statistical modeling skills (e.g., generalized linear models, mixed models, Bayesian methods, or machine learning) applied to high-dimensional biological data.
  • Proven ability to build reproducible, well-documented.
  • Prior experience with cancer genomics and/or hematologic malignancies; familiarity with clonal evolution concepts and analysis frameworks is a plus.
  • Demonstrated track record of first-author publications and/or evidence of leading analysis from raw data to figures and manuscripts.
