About the Lab
The Barisic lab studies how chromatin remodelers control access to the genome, from the positioning of single nucleosomes to the folding of interphase domains and the organization of mitotic chromosomes. Our approach combines CRISPR and degron-based perturbation, mouse models of immune biology and cancer, single-cell and 3D genomics as well as machine learning models that predict which perturbations are worth running at the bench. The aim is to establish causal rather than correlative rules of genome regulation, and to use those rules to find vulnerabilities in the cancers that arise when remodeling is lost. The lab is based in the Belfer Research Building at Weill Cornell Medicine in New York City.
Our Team
The Barisic lab brings together experimentalists and computational scientists from a range of backgrounds, including postdoctoral fellows, research technicians and visiting scientists. We build the methods we need rather than wait for them. Members are encouraged to work across both the bench and the analysis rather than stay on one side.
Affiliations
Dr. Barisic is Assistant Professor of Cancer Biology in the Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology, Department of Medicine, and Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmacology at Weill Cornell Medicine. He is the John P. Leonard and Gwirtzman Family Research Scholar and a member of the Sandra and Edward Meyer Cancer Center. The lab works closely with the Weill Cornell Lymphoma Program.

The Barisic Lab is located in the Belfer Research Building at 413 East 69th Street. Our space is equipped for the full range of work our projects require, from molecular biology and protein biochemistry through cell culture, CRISPR editing, inducible protein degradation, flow cytometry and mouse experiments.
